There is a splendid view of Glenmacnass from the northern slopes of Brocagh SE. The photo was taken zooming in a bit to bring the waterfall (centre) closer, but also to skip over some – to my mind - unsightly recent building in the foreground that has done little to enhance the beauty of the valley. Looking north from Brockagh SE Top, Scarr is visible with Glenmacanass Valley and Waterfall below to its left. Brockagh SE Top would be an ideal start ing or finishing summit on a circuit incorporating Brockagh, Tonelagee and possibly Scarr too. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/552/comment/3369/

Royal Road to the summit
by hibby  9 Feb 2025
One of the most enjoyable and agreeable hills to visit, thanks to the "royal road" of short-cropped green grass that provides a pleasant and inviting approach to the summit, firm underfoot even in winter. The summit area itself is interesting, dotted with large rounded granite boulders, standing incongruously on a bedrock of rough schist. They must have been transported here and dropped off by a long-ago glacier.

Although there is almost 300 metres of ascent from the car park at Laragh to the summit, it is nowhere very steep, and there are no fence crossings or worries about access.

On the return to the car park, heading south from the summit we took a left turn at T12547 98051 starA on another pleasant grassy path that brought us down the east slope of the hill to where it enters the Coillte forest at an area marked "Brocca Village (1940s)" on the East-West map.

It's a fine hill and deserves a better name than "SE Top" or "East Top". A lovely walk, highly recommended.

Round trip (car-summit-car) was 6.66 km, 1h45m.
