A stepping stone
by Geo  10 Jul 2015
This "new" 500+ summit (as per MV not geologically speaking!) is one which many will have crossed over as they have been on their way to Carn main summit probably to get to Slieve Muck ultimately.
Park at Ott car-park J280279 starA (small, very quickly full on a Sunday morning). The Ott track goes SW over the NE shoulder of Ott ( which can be summitted in passing) then further up to the stile at J268291 starB. Here if energetic one can go north to the 700+ toughies or if feeling like a hobbit on an epic journey move on SW to the lonely but atmospheric Doan, or in this case, turn South and within minutes be on Carn Mtn N Top. Part Of A Great Mourne Walk

The third summit in a six summit walk. Starting with Ott Mountain, I had been following the Mourne Wall since Carn Mountain and would continue along its course as far as Slieve Meelmore. A nice route giving six tops on a not too strenuous walk. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1493/comment/18670/
