Slieve Gallion is an isolated outlier of the Sperrins which dominates the western shore of Lough Neagh. The earliest reference to it is in AD 670 in the Book of Armagh where it is called Collunt Patricii, 'the height of St. Patrick'. There is a traditional song called Slieve Gallion’s Braes. See Máire MacNeill, 'The Festival of Lughnasa' (pp. 150-52) for details of the festive assembly on Slieve Gallion. The names Tintagh Mountain and Glenarudda Mountain seem to refer to areas of mountain pasture on Slieve Gallion's slopes rather than separate peaks.
Slieve Gallion is the 484th highest place in Ireland. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/398/
