One place to start from the north end of the small wood to the west at around R9295 6138 A. As of 2011 it is possible to walk through the fairly open trees to a point near to the summit. Although the land near the top is up to 400m above sea level, it is actively farmed and it might therefore not be possible to reach the top at times. There is a relatively small telecom mast north of the top operated by Vodafone. There is no marker at the top. Up and down will take 60 mins.
Views from the top are good, including towards the Galtees, Keeper Hill and the eastern Shannons such as the Devilsbit however it is mainly a place for the summiteer.
Alternatively you could approach from the SE, where you should seek permission to use the farm tracks (previously granted with no bother.) Follow the track past the farm buildings and take go right at the fork. (A sign reading 'No entry - use other track for telecom access' refers to cars & vans.) Follow the track up the slope for about 10 minutes, duck under a single wire (possibly electrified) into a grassy field where you'll find the highpoint.
