Picture: The 'new' Keeragh Mountain near the Knocknaveacals. (Contract pics)

Cahas Surveying: Changes to Arderins etc
Context of comment:Surveying 2024, August and Sept in the Mournes and the Cahas.
Message:There are new positions for the Knocknaveacals, North and South, thanks to a suggestion from DoBIH. Knocknaveacal N was recorded with a height of 512.7, an increase of 3.6 on previous, now making it an Arderin. Knocknaveacal S had its position and height changed.

It turned out that Knockreagh is nearly a metre short of the magic 500m and is now demoted from being an Arderin.

It turned out that Coomacloghane is 598.9m and so is confirmed as not being a Vandeleur-Lynam.

Knockeirky which formerly had an estimated prominence of 30m turned out to actually have 39.4m so it's confirmed as an Arderin.
Knockeirky South was confirmed as not having enough prominence to be an Arderin. The value found was 28.2m, so no change.
So, one list promotion and one demotion. So be it.

Knockeirky S has fearsome defences, but there's an interesting way down.

We also added Keeragh Mountain aka Keecragh Mountain just NW of Knocknaveacal with a height of 363.2m. It looks shapely from a distance but it difficult to visit because of the grain of the land with 4 and 5 metre slabs all over the obvious route north of it, some of which are horizontally 100m.
Additional points:Let us know at admin@mountainviews.ie of any issues.
