Take the N59 west from Letterfrack and turn left along road L693 567 starA. Continue along this for about 6km - it is by turns badly potholed and quite drivable so take care. This will take you to within spitting distance of the summit, which is marked by a mast. Climb over a fence to south of road and close to mast you will see a small pile of stones marking the highest point. The view of the mast is understandably ugly - but turn the other way and it is almost majestic, with Lough Nahillion nestling beneath the western slopes of the Twelve Bens. God bless the good old RTE transmitter access roads!
by Geo  26 Feb 2014
Climbed this about four years ago when it wasn't an MV listed summit. I had seen it from the nearby Diamond Hill. There is an RTE transmitter here and various telecommunications antennae. The cul-de-sac road from the N59 is accessed from L692568 starB. We drove south along this (very small) boreen and parked at about L709545 starC (as far as I recall). A gentle uphill ramble of about 5km return up to the summit telecoms enclosure with nice views east over the Bens. Nice that it's now included! From the SE
by markmjcampion  14 Nov 2020
I approached from the SE, having turned off the N59 at L75135 48710 starD. I drove as far along the road as I could and then headed cross country. It had a wild and remote feel to it.
First I hit the stream at approx L72659 51631 starE and followed it north for about 500m before heading due West up to the summit. Rough enough under foot on the pull up to the top. I wasn't expected so much man made intrusion at the summit but it was a grand couple of hours nonetheless. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1148/comment/21353/
