Bedrock type: Sandstone and siltstone, (Gortanimill Formation)
Notes on name: This peak is on the eastern flank of Céim an Fhia / Keimaneigh. The form Diúchoill is given on the OSi Discovery map, seemingly based on one local source, but it is unclear what this would mean. There is a townland named Dúchoill / Doughill in the parish of Kenmare, and this form has been preferred here.

The Lost Valley part Deux

The trip to Douce/Doughill is like going back in time, lots of roads with grass growing in the middle. Parked at A (W13389 62823) (Point A) (room for 6 cars), which is a lay-by off a forest road (keep right). Please bear in mind that this is a Coillte road so it may be closed for forest operations.
Once parked, head west down the road for 200m metres and through the gate, if you plan on doing Douce first, see my comments on that summit.
For an ascent of just Doughill walk down the road to B (W124 633) then follow the stream up to the saddle between Douce and Doughill.
When you come to a fence, running N/S follow it north much of the way to the top of Doughill.
Doughill summit is marked by a small cairn of stones and offers lovely views North, West and East, although perhaps not quite as nice as Douce.
Once you're at the top, head north a few hundred metres until you can see a grassy gully, (make sure it's the one you see in the photo I didn't go far enough north and it was very steep and slippery), you can follow this gully east to the base of the mountain and across the fields to the farm road, which you can follow back to the car.
The circuit of Douce, Doughill and back the farm road was 8km and took 2.5 hours. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/547/comment/6731/
