Long trek to summit and back along Llyn Cowlyd resrvoir
by Fergalh  29 Oct 2021
From Pen yr Helgi Du a steep descent leads to the col followed by a steep ascent up Pen Llithrig y Wrach. From here a narrow track leads north. At the bottom of the first ascent where the track forks take right hand track it leads through the heather and bog. on the OS map 17 it runs out however it does continue roughly all the way to the fence just below the summit. The barbed wire portion of the fence has been cut at a section to the north west and here another rough track leads to the summit marked with a small cairn. There is a very rough track from the summit which leads north east however once you drop of this hill it is very rough to the wall to the North east. From here a wonderful scenic track leading north east on the shores of Llyn Cowlyd reservoir leads to the head of the valley and from here the track winds back to Capel Curig the starting point Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/B7501/comment/23344/
