This is the highest peak on the ridge between Dún Lúiche / Dunlewy and Loch an Iúir / Loughanure. The second element in this name is unclear. In the Ordnance Survey Name Book John O’Donovan recorded two possibilities: ‘hill of thunder’ or ‘hill of the lofts’.
