From the vicinity of Cloghane church there is a strange optical illusion whereby this peak seems higher than the summit, though it is actually over 100m lower.   Brandon Peak is the 25th highest place in Ireland.

A big one for me, in every sense.

Brandon Peak marked my 400th Arderin - I came prepared as you can see from the shot! Little prepared me however for the beautiful blue sky, the summer's day warmth, the stunning scenery no matter where you looked, and the conical, sharply defined peak. One of the best in Ireland. A local man, Dan O'Sullivan from Dingle, who I met near the top and who I'd say was in his 70's - even pointed out the distant artificial road leading up to the Star Wars set! A heavenly day all round! Trackback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/24/comment/18528/
