What A Difference A Day Makes!
What A Difference A Day Makes! ……..”are you mad… or deranged even???” ….My reply….“The latter said ailment I can probably deal with, but anything more and I just might need to review my analyst”.
Such are the questions, conundrums even, that I’m sure I for one haven’t been alone in receiving from people as diverse as my friends and family to people who still haven’t returned those music cd’s I lent them…. whilst I try to justify my obsessive longing for all things mountainous and boggy.
Why the blisters, why the pain, why the sunburnt ears….why even the leaky flask of hot chocolate that wasn’t even tasty when it was warm in the first place?
I suppose I have to admit the famous quote “Ted I think I’m going mad” has on occasion crossed my mind but just yesterday I think I’ve seen the light to prove our faith in the hills was true all along.
Yesterday I witnessed a part of this world in all its glory with wonderful conditions, a surreal calmness and the sun gently on my back for the whole of the walk ( this part is particularly true as I have the sunburnt calves to prove it ). I have been to this part of the world before but alas on that given occasion last year all I saw for fourteen hours was mist with more mist. Whilst the occasion was the Maumturks the location is immaterial. Yesterday all previous labours proved their worth and blisters earned their plasters…… What A Difference A Day Makes!
Faith renewed, sanity intact, let’s blister on…. Now to check out the hair on the palm of my hand… |
