Slieve Binnian North Tor now ArderinContext of comment:For some years we have included Slieve Binnian North Top, 768m in the Mourne Mountains as an Arderin. However the Database of British and Irish Hills have pointed out that since we measured Slieve Binnian North Tor and found its height to be 682.5, it should be the Arderin.
Message:We have now corrected our listings.
Slieve Binnian North Tor is the Arderin with a prominence of around 53m
Slieve Binnian North Top is now an Arderin Beg, given that its prominence is around 23m and less than 30m
If you have climbed both then your listing in the Hall of Records won't change. If you had climbed the Top but not the Tor, then you will have one more to climb.
If you have received an Award for completing the Arderins, then this stands. The Award is for completing the list as far as it is known at the time of the Award.
As surveying proceeds there will be probably be some more changes for lists, though eventually the lists will stabilise. If you are in an area and note that a summit is below but near 500m or has prominence below but near 30 then climb it!
Similar goes for near Vandeleur-Lynams. There's a number of summits that might be or might not be in that list.
The Highest Hundred is relatively stable as there was a big push to measure them for the MI Irish Peaks book.
