Price suggests that Carriglineen may derive rather from Ir. Carraig Glinnín, 'rock of the little glen'.   Carriglineen Mountain is the 713th highest place in Ireland.

Fairly steep on three sides with good views.
Short Summary created by simon3  7 Jul 2013
Carriglineen is relatively steep on three sides, the exception being the NE spur. It provides attractive views to the end of the Glenmalure valley. For example it is possible to see the Faninierin-Croaghanmoira-Ballincor group as a whole.

One obvious place to start to reach it is from the Shay Healy memorial at around T1296 9223 A (Point A). It is also possible from the SE using the road that starts at T 115 902 B (Point B). (There is a sign requesting that visitors ring regarding entry, however the owner is happy at responsible walker access).

As of 2013 the forest to the NW is notoriously dense and not recommended. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/604/comment/5363/
