This is a list of Irish mountains that are at least 900 metres in height, with a prominence of at least 15 metres. Occasionally this is referred to as the so-called "Irish Munros."
These mountains have the distinction of being among the highest in Ireland. However, this list is limited to just 14 summits, confined to just four mountain ranges. Specifically, the included peaks are located in the MacGillycuddy's Reeks, Brandon, Galtymore, and Lugnaquilla. All are squashed into the province of Munster, with the exception of Lugnaquilla.

As 3,000 feet is approximately 914.4 metres, the list of 3,000-foot peaks in Ireland coincides with the list of summits reaching 900 metres and above. There are no mountains in Ireland between 900 metres and 914.4 metres.
The term "Irish Munros" is, in our view, somewhat questionable. This is not only due to the limited distribution of the mountains but also because of the term's origins. Hugh Munro (later Sir Hugh Munro) was a Scottish pioneer who, in 1891, compiled an innovative list of Scottish mountains. This is the origin of the current list of 283 Munros in Scotland.
Applying a Scottish classification to another country, particularly when the resulting list is neither comprehensive nor representative, feels somewhat imitative and, in some respects, colonial.
