Route to a reputedly difficult to access 3,000m hill which we had stewed on for a long time. The bus operator told us it wasn't possible to do it in the 6.5 hours between the bus reaching Alto the Chorillo at 9,30am and departing at 4pm. Looking at our maps, the distance did not indicate it was impossible so we were expecting something horrific in the terrain. We put on the pace and reached the summit in one hour and 45 minutes and could have reached the upper bus terminus by 1pm. Instead we warmed in the sun outside the Caldera Refugio. Eamonoc later had a few words with the operator! This is the bus from Capileira to Alto del Chorillo (weekends only and a must-book), which exists primarily to convey non-walkers to within 5k and 800m walking of Mulahacen, Spain's highest mainland peak and either the operator judges all people accordingly or doesnt have a clue himself...

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 3h 59m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
