Route to 2 of Sierra Nevada's 3,000m peaks from Hoya de la Mora, Pico Tajo Alto de los Machos and Cerillo Redondo. The exact position of Cerillo Redondo is a little unsure, as various maps attribute the name to different points along the ridge. In the event we went as far as point 3,024 which takes in all the attributions above 3,000m...

The route itself is a bit tortuous. It involes taking the bus (weekend only and necessary to book) to 3,000m below Veleta, climbing to 3,200m up the road, dropping into the gorge to the right to 2,900m, climbing from there to Refugio Elorietta (ruined) at 3,200m, dropping a further 150m to the ridge and walking 5k out to the hills and back, over rough, rising and falling ground with one very significant gendarme. You can then choose between walking 300m uphill to get the bus down, or walk down to Hoya de la Mora, 6k. We chose the latter.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 5h 50m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
