Colin Murphy: Track 5142 in area near Leean Mountain, Dartry Mountains (Ireland)
Good, straightforward walk on solid ground
Length: 3.1km, Creator time taken: 1h25m, Ascent: 216m,
Descent: 217m

Places: Start at G8049237707, Leean Mountain, end at Start
Logged as completed by 1

If only all hills and mountains were like this! Parking for one car at start. Crossed a gate and continued up a broad, solid grassy track, ignoring the two forks to the left. On the initial approach, Leean looks fairly daunting, but proved not to be so.
Approaching from the south
This track took me up to about 320m ascent on the western side of the hill. Set off up the steep slope, which was covered in short grass and scattered small rocks. The ground was very solid and it made for easy climbing. Before I knew it, I was at 410m and just to the south of the well-defined summit, which is marked by a trig, and has good views of the Keelogyboys to the west.
Summit trig
A satisfying climb made easy by track and solid ground. Up and down in 75 minutes, including a leisurely stop for lunch.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 0h 59m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
