Colin Murphy: Track 5139 in area near Clare Coastal Hill (Ireland)
Kilkee Cliff Walk
Length: 3.6km, Creator time taken: 59m39s, Ascent: 101m,
Descent: 102m

Places: Start at Q8750760239, end at Start

The view north
An easy but stunning cliff walk with just 50m or so climbing. There is plenty of parking in the large car park beside the Diamond Rocks Café just to the west of Kilkee. A tarred trail then leads past the Richard Harris statue up the gentle slope, hugging the coastline.
Looking west with Bishop's Island on right
This can be a little dangerous on windy days and you are advised to stay well clear of the edge. The views are beautiful and actually get better the higher you go as the track weaves its way around several coves, the waves pounding the cliffs below. There are also some marvellous rock formations to investigate.
After about 2km you reach the highest point, about 60m elevation and the views in either direction are wonderful. The trail joins the Dunlicky Road leading back to town, and you could make it a loop by taking that, but most people simply retrace their steps to enjoy to scenery once more. Next to the Cliffs of Moher, probably the best cliff walk in Ireland.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 0h 53m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
