Colin Murphy: Track 5024 in area near Mullaghturk, Sperrin Mountains (Ireland)
Straightforward enough, gentle climb.
Length: 3.7km, Creator time taken: 1h15m, Ascent: 164m,
Descent: 164m

Places: Start at H6827488296, Mullaghturk, end at Start
Logged as completed by 1

A fairly straightforward ascent, which, based on friends’ previous experiences, I was expecting to be much worse. Squeezed a car in at the side of the road, and headed up the substantial track.
The grassy section of the track
This ends after about 700m but there is a grassy trail that continues up the hill, and luckily it was frozen solid the day I did it. It might be a tad sticky at other times.
The gateless gateposts
Came to two aged gateposts, but no gate, passed through and followed a fence on the left up for another 300m or so, with the tracks of what looked like a quad bike easing the way.
A frosty reception
Eventually as you reach about 400m elevation things get a bit rougher – heather and clumpy grass, but it’s not too bad. There are decent views all around, enhanced on this day by the frosty conditions. The fence reaches a T-junction, cross on the left and continue to follow the arm of the fence SW for about 250m – there are even faint traces of a narrow trail through the uneven heather.
The unremarkable highpoint
Highpoint unmarked – pick your heathery clump. Easy enough all told.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 1h 1m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
