[RWD version 1 ] Previous commenters have mostly approached this hill either via Mid Hill or the Quolie Reservoirs to the SE, all remarking on the difficulty it poses due to the roughness of the terrain and the knee-high heather. I was expecting some of the same with and approach from the SW, but was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. There is parking for one car next to gate at the starting point. I walked back down the road to a sort of crossroads and turned NE up a track. (If there is anyone about you should ask for permission to access this, but the day I did it there was a soul to be seen.)

The start of the track with Carncormick visible in distance.
Continue up this gently rising track, going through 2 gates, one of which has a ‘Beware of bull’ sign, but there was no sign of any bovine threat on the horizon. I continued to the track to its highest point (almost 322m ascent) and then turned NEE across the open hillside.

Carncormick seen from the south-west.
The ground rises very gently for about 1.5km, but is mostly firm underfoot and just short grass or heather. There was little in the way of the rough terrain reported on the east side of the hill.

Yours truly at the trig pillar.
I reached the summit, marked by a trig pill and was back at my car in just over an hour and a half.
