Colin Murphy: Track 4893 in area near Cnoc Bhólais, Iveragh NW (Ireland)
Straightforward yet spectacular
Length: 4.0km, Creator time taken: 1h50m, Ascent: 304m,
Descent: 304m

Places: Start at V3943662857, Cnoc Bhólais, Cnoc Bhólais (mullach thiar theas), end at Start
Logged as completed by 1

A fairly simple double-bag though it is not without a challenge as the track from the col to Bolus, while straight and well-defined will test your legs and foothold in parts.
As seen from the initial track
There is space for a couple of cars at the starting point, walk back down road for 50m then proceed up the grassy track, crossing a gate on the way. The short initial ascent to the col will take 5-10 minutes.
View from summit taken just after sunrise.
Cross another gate and you will see the track on the right. Head up the steep slope for about 700m to reach the summit, which is marked by a trig pillar. Tremendous views all round.
Ruined cottages on the eastern slope.
Head back the same way, cross a stile at the col and proceed up the much gentler SW slope, which will take no more than 10 minutes from col.
SW top with tower seen from Bolus
Again great views and the Skelligs also visible. There is an interesting ruin on the hill, which is apparently Napoleonic signal tower. Took 1.5 hours in total, but that was at a leisurely pace.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 1h 18m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
