simon3: Track 4782 in area near Comeragh Mountains (Ireland)
Simple circuit of Coumshingaun.
Length: 8.0km, Creator time taken: 4h35m, Ascent: 639m, Descent: 634m
Places:Start at S3411310227, end at Start Logged as completed by 4
Starting from Kilclooney Wood Carpark this is a straightforward circuit of Coumshingaun. Straightforward certainly but it is actually a steep scramble in places both going up and down. There is an uncertain beaten path in places. On the occasion we did it the hardest part was just before reaching the plateau at the top. Here ice had made the slight zigzag track unuseable at times so we took a short cut up over snowy heather. Difficult and somewhat exposed. The south rim of Coumshingaun. The headwall reaches about 350m. Coming down is also quite dramatic. The route is over largish blocks for much of the way made harder on this occasion by snow and ice.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 40m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
