I found the dry spur of the canal between Ballycommon and Kilbeggan quite interesting (a detour along this route). Leads to a dry harbour now laid out in lawn. You'll see the Tullamore transmitter (one of the tallest man made structures in the country). Greenway well progressed, almost complete.

An interesting bog railway bridge over the canal on this stretch too.
