Inishkeel Island
Inishkeel Island can be walked to from Narin beach during low tide. Depending on the tide you may be able to walk out without even getting your feet wet, but wading out appears to be more common. During neap tides you may not be able to walk to the island without swimming. Note: you will not have very long on the island before the tide starts to come back in, so keep this in mind.
Approaching Inishkeel Island from Narin Beach.

On the Island there are the ruins of an old Church and it's connecting buildings along with some gravestones and stone carvings. These are worthy of an exploring in their own right, which I did last year. This year I wanted to walk around the Island and see what else may be found. Keeping the tide in mind I pushed on around the coast.
The old ruins - well worth a look at!

Besides sheep, cows and even a bull - be aware - there are some wonderful rock formations around the coast on the NE side of the Island. I also went to the MV marked highpoint, however I suspect this may not be the actual top and another trip will be needed to measure this. However with the tide returning fast I headed to safety of the beach and waded back ashore.

If you find yourself on Narin Beach outside Portnoo and the tide is in your favour, go out and explore this lovely little island!

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 1h 3m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
