A good way to make a sensible circular walk based on the quasi-municipal park of Divis, the loftiest of the Belfast Hills.

This route takes advantage of two of the marked trails on the mountain's slopes. Starting from the 'usual' car park on the SW side, it walks up the access road for the summit (the gate may be open and you may be able to drive as far as the car park for The Barn cafe), past the cafe before turning right to take the Ridge Trail which meanders around and along (but mostly around) the blunt spur culminating in the huge transmitters atop Black Mountain. The views over the city and south to the Mournes are very fine, and after around 4km the path comes back to the road.

Turn left then immediately right for the final pull up the road to the summit with its radio paraphernalia, traces of British Army occupation, and triangulation column.
Continue over the top to pick up the Summit Trail which leads easily down to the road just above the cafe.
