The trailhead is at Kilconnell, outside Liscannor where there is private pay-parking costing €2. The first section of the hike is a track up to the coast at Hag's Head and the location of O'Brien's Tower, built by local landlord and MP, Cornelius O’Brien, arguably the father of Irish tourism. The cliff-top walk from here to the Interpretive Centre is very impressive. The track is narrow in parts, flanked by Liscannor stone, and the temptation to walk closer to the exposed sheer cliff-edge is to be avoided. On the route, some of our more learned companions spotted the Spring Sandwort which, like the Gentian, is a speciality of the Burren. A lone Early Purple Orchid grew amongst the grasses of a nearby field. The track gets busier as one approaches the Interpretive Centre. We retraced out steps back to our starting point, but only the outward trip is tracked here.
