Bunsen7: Track 4071 in area near Seefin, Dublin/Wicklow (Ireland)
Easy, Dry Seefin Family Friendly route
Length: 6.3km, Creator time taken: 2h36m, Ascent: 350m,
Descent: 337m

Places: Start at O0799314666, Seefin, end at O0682414507 1.2km W from Start
Logged as completed by 2

The first time I went up Seefin I followed a track from the west. It was wet, mucky and not at all family friendly.
Thinking it would be good to share the joys of the cairn with the kids, I have since found that the easiest route is definitely from the South, and it makes for a nice family walk.
The start point is actually at O 06831 14489, so don't be fooled by the false start at Kippure Centre here. Our initial route with small ones was blocked by a stream crossing.
Park at O 06831 14489 and head east along the forest track (to the right as you cross the barrier, then loop back west before heading north along an easy track.
Very pleasant outing that can be enjoyed by all the family, the cairn an obvious attraction at the summit.
Looking back (southwards) along easy track leading to Seefin

If in the vicinity I always like to head towards the Sally Gap to get a look across at the Coronation Plantation, the kids reckon it looks like somewhere in Africa, the sparse covering of trees contrasting against the yellow moor grass. You can also ramble across to the Obelisk and see the trees at closer quarters, see track 1685.
Though I'm easily pleased, even the autumnal colour in the beech trees as you head east after Cloghleagh Bridge is enough to warm the cockles of the heart!

The startpoint is O 06813 14489. I put two digits in the wrong order. The track is visible on EastWest maps.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 1h 50m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.

* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
