Track Rating ..
[RWD version 1 ]
Pleasant, non-challenging loop walk, beginning and ending at the car park by the bridge south of Castle Donovan ruins. Some boggy ground heading west on the southern flank of the lake and heading to 'Owen's Kitchen' north of the lake. This is an ideal spot for a rest and to enjoy the view over Bantry Bay.
Also the descent from Mullaghmesha to the wood can be very wet under foot, so take care on this stretch. The ascent is, for the most part, on a grassy, gravel access road (to the transmitter masts near the summit), with 4 stiles to cross. The main feature is the 2 massive rocks overlooking the road.
