How to turn a "GR de pays" which is usually completed over two or three days into a challenge walk. A solo trip on a hot day, with beautiful views. Having slept only three hours the previous night, so as to get an early start, I was done after 12km and struggled for the rest of the day, especially on the main descent at the end, which seemed never-ending. Actual total height gain: about 2170m.
The Vallée du Larboust with the +3000m peaks of the Luchonnais in the distance.
Looking back, somewhere on the way to the Col du Lion from the village of Jurvielle.
The splendid vista S from the Col du Lion, the highest point of the walk at 2030m.

Looking over the beautiful Lac de Bareilles on the way down the Col du Lion, with the Mont Né (2147m) in the distance.
Starting the long descent along the S ridge of the Sommet d'Antenac (1990m).

Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
