The trailhead for 2nd half of this Pilgrim Path is Carriganass Castle, Kealkill; there is a car park nearby. It begins on roadway, with connecting off-road sections that were still very boggy and slippery after the bad winter. Likewise the higher ground on the approach to Gougane Barra, and especially the descent. However, the scenery again made it all worthwhile. A hike to be reserved for the drier months of the year.

Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 4h 37m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
