jgfitz: Track 3780 in area near Ballinacor Mountain, Dublin/Wicklow (Ireland)
Ballinacor and Croaghanmoira
Length: 5.6km, Creator time taken: 3h16m, Ascent: 419m,
Descent: 377m

Places: Start at T11324 85583, Ballinacor Mountain, Croaghanmoira, end at T09083 85621 2.2km W from Start
Logged as completed by 2
This track is a shorter version of #2385, cutting out the public road section, and also near the trail end cutting out the zig-zag forestry tracks at Carrickshane, and instead taking the direct descent north-south from Croaghanmoira alongside the water-excavated deep but narrow gully to emerge onto the public road at Mucklagh Bridge. The panoramic scenery on both tops is excellent, but especially on Croaghanmoira. The shortness of the track is compensated by the effort required in doing it, so that one feels that refreshments and food afterwards in Glenmalure Lodge have been earned. The public road is narrow, but there is parking for a couple of cars at Mucklagh Bridge, and for another couple of cars 200m west of the trailhead of Ballycreen Bridge, and a few more spaces here and there on the roadside between start and finish.

Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 1h 49m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
