Route from South to Nephin Beg and its South Top.

Sandman has suggested a parking place deep in the forest north of the usual southern start from the Brogan Carroll bothy. By creative use of forest roads you can emerge onto the Bangor Trail about 4k along the usual route, saving abouut 8k on the round trip.

The roads are not good, but with extreme care, they are passable. I looked carefully for any gates which could be shut off blocking our retreat, but saw nothing.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 32m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
