simon3: Track 3340 in area near Knockanoughanish, Caha Mountains (Ireland)
Trackless trek to rough summit.
Length: 4.8km, Creator time taken: 2h22m, Ascent: 281m,
Descent: 286m

Places: Start at V78212 60043, Knockanouganish, end at Start

Start of the walk is at the bottom right.
This starts at the top of a col also useful for reaching Knockatee. It will bring you on a short trip over boggy but not particularly difficult ground to the twin peaked summit of Knockanoughanish.

The rough ground of the route,

Knockanoughanish on skyline right.

You will have to cross fences here, however if at the start of the walk you keep to the left of the fence then you should find that you only have to cross one (as of 2016 anyway).
Once you are over an initial hump, marked as Drombohilly 256m on the 1:50k, you will see some rectangular fields to the right. Leave them to the right.
The actual top area has two peaks
The twin peaks, higher to the left.
separated by a few tens of metres. The higher to the north has a cairn.
The views can be pretty spectacular, however on the rainy day that we were there they might be described more as grainy dramatic.
Views from the top include left of centre Knockastumpa with skyline to the right of Cummeengeera circuit.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 1h 25m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
