Peter Walker: Track 3048 in area near Cave Hill, Belfast Hills (Ireland)
Cave Hill - the quick way
Length: 4.1km, Creator time taken: 14m53s, Ascent: 42m, Descent: 110m
Places:Start at J32394 79326, Cave Hill, end at J31075 79277 1.3km W from Start Logged as completed by 1
Lets be clear...the best ways up Cave Hill are from the east, from Belfast Castle or (no kidding) the car park of Belfast Zoo, routes that lead you up and along the ramparts so impressive from below. But the quickest way up is from the car park on the Upper Hightown Road to the south-west, starting as it does from about 250m altitude and following as it does an easy path more tailored for family parties and dog walkers than tough mountain folk. Anyway, just follow the path from the car park and the sign for McArts Fort at the junction. Half an hour will see most walkers to the top...my half an hour up and down was divided into 20 minutes route marching up and running all the way down...an Englishman with an Irish fiancee is best advised not to be late home for tea.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 0h 53m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
