Day 35 - O Pedrouzo to O Monte de Gozo
We decided to stop over in O Monte de Gozo at the municipal hostal rather than head straight into Santiago. It suited us better to have a short walk into Santiago the next day, with the better opportunity to source good accommodation early.
The municipal hostel here is an enormous complex that was built for the Pope's visit some time ago. They have good facilities for washing and cooking. The restaurants and bars are long since closed up unfortunately. It is very cheap at only €5 each per night. Many new hostels now supply you with disposable mattress and pillow covers as part of the cost. Each room has just 3 double bunks and there are plenty of showers and toilets which are kept very clean.
