Day 03 - Roncesvalles to Zubiri
The weather was good as we started out after a light breakfast. We made sure to get a photograph of us both with the "Santiago de Compostela 790km road sign". With the large numbers pouring out of the Monastery we were sure that it would be very busy along the way. However, in no time they had all dispersed into thin air!
The track mostly goes through lovely woods, gravel paths or alongside minor roads. Nowhere are you exposed to walking along the actual road but at worst you are separated from roads by vegetation, which helps make the walking very pleasant.
There are enterprising locals along the way, like at Alto Erro, where they have set up a mobile cafe where you can get snacks and coffee. They even have a Share Box where you may deposit gear you do not want or pick up anything there that may be useful.
On crossing the bridge into Zubiri there is a lovely clean river. What a pleasure you sit with others and bath your hot feet in the cool waters. Went down the town to the new Albergue Suseia but I was just seconds too late to get the last two remaining places. Went back and found a lovely private room with en-suite facilities at €25 for the both of us!
We headed out and enjoyed a lovely cold 'San Miguel' along with another excellent value Pilgrim Menu dinner.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 5h 14m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
