conormcbandon: Track 2701 in area near Keale Mountain, Ballyhoura Mountains (Ireland)
Keale and a northern attempt on Fear Breagach
Length: 15.4km, Creator time taken: 3h40m, Ascent: 480m,
Descent: 496m

Places: Start at R68425 22885, Keale Mountain, Fear Breagach, end at R68497 23085 213m N from Start
Logged as completed by 2
I left the car in KIlfinane and ascended the new Keale top and included the old Keale top for the sake of it. The trees are quite mature on the old Keale top so it really isn't that difficult to access. Made an attempt on Fear Breagach from the north in the dark. The very obvious path becomes rapidly obstructed by a large bunch of fallen trees. In the darkness with only my headlight and wet tree trunks i abandoned my attempt and will approach from the south via Hivisibility's description.

To download GPS tracks you must be enrolled and logged in. See "Login or enrol", top right - quick and easy.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 3h 53m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
