This route takes in all the main seven summits of the Sheeffry Hills and only excludes the recently added and isolated summit of Laghta Eighter. We parked at L92118 68616 on the verge beside a gate close to where the road descends towards the Glenlaur River, taking care not to block the gate (there is only room for one car here). The route then goes west ascending the long ridge to Tawnyard and beyond to the main ridge of the Sheeffry Hills. We contoured around Tievnabinnia and headed for Tievummera, followed by Barrclashcame. From Barrclashcame it is possible to descend a steep slope to take in Barrclashcame NW top, but it is critical to take the correct and only safe point off the plateau as the sides are steep with cliffs in many parts and it might very tricky to find this descent point in the mist. The views on the way down over Doo Lough and Glencullin Lough with Mweelrea opposite are spectacular. This descent route starts as a short grassy ramp at L84465 69231 and soon degenerates into a steep and loose rocky scramble. This presists for about 30-40m followed by steep grass down to the col. The descent of the rock face is harder than the upward climb upon the return. Having taken in Barrclashcame NW Top, we retraced our steps via Barrclashcame and Tievummera to gain the summit of Tievnabinnia. By now the clouds had lifted offering excellent 360 degree views taking in Croagh Patrick, Mweelrea, the Twelve Bens,. Ben Gorm and the Maamturks. From Tievnabinnia we descended eastwards to Tievnabinnia East Top and eventually met the Western Way at a col above Lugacolliwee Lough. There is a short climb from here eastwards to the summit of Tawny Rower and back before heading down the Western Way southwards towards the Glenlaur River (be aware that there is detour in the final part of the Western Way which avoids a farm). Upon meeting the tarmac road we turned right and followed this gently uphill back to our car.
