MV describes a number of routes up Ballycumber from the NE and SW but the advent of National looped walks on the hill provides an easy route from the south. All of the looped walks start at a trailhead at end of Mangans Lane. Signs at the start of Mangans Lane recommend cars are not driven along this road. The road is very narrow with a few passing places and with care it is possible to drive to the end where there is parking for one or two cars on the left at the trailhead where there is a map display (but don't block the entrance to a driveway). It is not recommended to drive this road on fine summer's day as passing traffic might be difficult and parking at the end might not be available. In these circumstances park at the start and walk circa 1.7km along the road to the trail head. From the trailhead follow the Kyle (purple) loop walk signs to the NW for about 1km until a fork is met close to forestry. Take the right fork to reach a col and turn left here to follow a muddy track to the summit. Return by the same way.
