This traverse covers the less visited summits of Seefin and Seefin North Top (as well as Knockeenatoung). The main part of the walk then covers the eastern range of the Galty Mountains from Galty Beg to Slieveanard NE Top. We started at the car park for the Galtymore (black road) and left a second car at the finish near to Cahir. Leaving a car at the finish is a bit trickly as you need the minor road from Cahir as it passes underneath the old N8 (now the R639) and over the M8 motorway.

The walk is straightforward with a path along most of the route from Galty Beg onwards. Doing the travserse in the west to east direction means that you do most of the hard stuff in the first half of walk with more gentle and lower ascents in the second half. One thing to be careful of is the ground towards the summit of Sturrakeen which is littered with small boulders hidden underneath the heather.

On the day that we did it, the walk had excellent views as far as the Blackstairs, Comeraghs and towards the mountains of SW Cork and Kerry.
