We were told about this lovely walk by a local. It skirts the base of Tomies Mountain. There is space for just about 8 cars along the side of the road at the starting point. It is a little beauty of a walk seemingly unknown outside of the area!
The start is by way of a permissive track though farm land and past some cottages. You eventually come to a Y where the path splits. The locals tend to complete the walk anti-clockwise which climbs before returning via the lower ground. We decided to enjoy the beautiful oak wood on the lower section first. Half way along this outward section it is well worth dropping down to see O'Sullivan's Cascades. This is a magnificent 3 level waterfall to which you can nearly reach the base. There are also beautiful views to be enjoyed from the lake shore at this point.
Continue on back up to track which climbs gradually to the SE extent of the walk. On the return section there are wide ranging views out over the lake from this higher ground. A lovely walk where there are few fellow walkers to disturb the peace and tranquility.

Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 30m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
