[RWD version 1 ] This is a brief route up Carrickshouk that lets you keep an eye on your car for most of the way (Parking along this and other roads near the Sally Gap is always a concern). Park in a Coillte entrance and simply follow the track for a couple of hundred metres before branching off left uphill. I took a more direct descent line that involved some care on steep rock when there was snow and ice. A fine little summit that allows great views of the surrounding Wicklow landscape and summits, including Scarr, Luggala, Tonelagee and the sweep of summits from Mullaghcleevaun to Gravale. Being able to watch your car most of the way throughout gives some comfort, but It is a terrible indictment that this should be a concern.
