Peter Walker: Track 2168 in area near Slieve Beagh, Fermanagh/S Tyrone (Ireland)
Slieve Beagh
Length: 8.7km, Creator time taken: 1h58m, Ascent: 195m, Descent: 217m
Places:Start at H5496041879, Slieve Beagh, Slieve Beagh SE Top, end at H5540341572 539m SE from Start Logged as completed by 1
A walk over the plateau to the SE Top (County Monaghans high point) and the main summit. Our visit was on a clear, settled day; ideal conditions for appreciating what a barrel of laughs this area would be with the mist down. No compass work was needed on our part, just the occasional glance at the map to make sure we were maintaining our direction, but in poor visibility you would need to be pretty accurate to link the (minimal) landmarks that make up the route. Conditions underfoot are damp rather than saturated, although it pays to stay alert. From some perspectives the ascent of Slieve Beagh is a terrible hillwalk. Do not be put off...it is rather memorable for all that.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 3m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
* Note: A GPS Height in the elevation profile is sourced from the device that recorded the track. An "SRTM" height is derived from a model of elevations for parts of the earth. More detail
