Walk in Ireland, Donegal Aghla Mountain South Top An Eachla, ascent 513m, length 8.9km
Places:Start at B89028 00608, Aghla Mountain South Top, An Eachla, end at Start Logged as completed by 1
Following the route described by David Herman in "Hill Walkers Donegal" Walk 23.
This track follows the high ground as described by David Herman along the first of the deep gullies. I'd recommend dropping down into the gully as the higher ground is covered with knee-deep heather and with the very rough ground makes difficult and tough going.
Navigation along the route is very easy with good terrain features but care required on the descent from Castle Lough to the head of Lough Finn and the rough track as the terrain here is quite featureless and there are a few steep crags that need to be carefully negotiated.
The mountain is quite extensively grazed so if you intend bringing a dog it will need to be good around sheep or else kept on a lead for much of the walk.

NOTE: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, an approximate though often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 38m + time stopped for breaks
NOTE: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
