Simon3 has recently put up his track for a walk in this area from the North, talking in 6 of the Slieve Mish range. My track covers some of the same ground, but takes in 7 summits and the approach is from the south. Parking near the top of the col at V93526 80439 on Map 71, my route heads up to Caherbla before continuing on to the fort on Caherconree and on to the main Caherconree summit. The walk from Caherbla is along a nice ridge with great views across to the western Slieve Mish summits of Moanlaur, Knockbrack and Lack Mountain. From Caherconree a brief detour (20 mins each way) takes in Gearhane before following a narrow spur down from Caherconree and on to Baurtregaum. The route continues down to Baurtregaum NW Top before heading directly across and up to Baurtregaum NE Top. From here I headed back up to the main Baurtregaum summit before heading down to Castle Hill. After Castle Hill I headed directly south to meet the busy R561 where I failed to hitch a lift (probably due to the high number of tourists on the road). A hard 3 1/2km road walk back to the Camp road junction before I blagged a lift back up to my car.

A great route on a good day but would be a struggle in consistent high wind. The underfoot conditions are generally good, but with a lot of ascent and descent it could be a tiring walk in wet weather.
