Starting at the car park at the end of Victoria Terrace (£8 per day) a relatively easy walk after an initial slog to gain height at the start on tarmac which switches to a rocky path for the remainder of the route.Train station at summit has welcome refreshments but a word of warning -only food purchased on the premises can be consumed inside, so if you have a packed lunch be prepared to stand outside in the cold! Also be prepared to wait your turn to get your summit photo as crowds appear from the trains and expect to walk straight to the trig pillar without queue!

Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 4h 43m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
