There is space for perhaps 2 cars at the start near a farm entrance. Go up the rough road to the forest and follow it as shown to a sharp bend in the road near the top and to the north. At this point you are around 170 m east of the top. Avoid making the northerly loop as shown on this track, which turned out to be unhelpfu. Instead from the bend head towards the summit on a rough track skirting south past some denser wood until you find the trig pillar.

As you walk you will find areas of the forest covered in moss on the ground and in places on the lower branches of the tree. Blair witch, spooky fairground ride, green mystery. Finally you may arrive at the trig pillar, incongrous like the obelisk in 2001 or the lamppost in Narnia.
