[RWD version 1 ]
Starting from the bus stop in Los Cristianos, this walk takes in a very varied route. First there is the ascent up Montana Guaza, 428m, followed by a walk over the high plateau to the south of it, characterised often as malpais (badlands). Beyond this the route goes past the tourist development of Palm Mar, showing signs of serious ghost estates at least in 2012 and then on becoming a coastal walk near the Faro de Rasca, a light house like structure, which seems mainly to act as a beacon for the many aircraft arriving to TFS, the Tenerife South airport. Along the coast you walk for a while beside one of the huge covered banana plantations, extraordinary to view at close quarters.
Finally the walk ends at Los Galletas a coastal not entirely tourist town where you can enjoy a beer and a tapas. There is a fairly frequent bus route which will take you right back to the start. This is a varied and fascinating walk but be prepared for walking without shade for several hours. Route finding particularly after Montana Guaza is difficult in places - we used the description in "Walk! Tenerife" (David and Ros Brawn) with attendant GPS waypoints.
