wicklore: Track 1331 in area near Cúlóg , Maamturks (Ireland)
Conquering Culog
Length: 6.9km, Creator time taken: 2h19m, Ascent: 378m,
Descent: 368m

Places: Start at L87901 55560, Cúlóg, end at Start
Logged as completed by 1
This walk visits a summit just outside the main Maamturks ridge. Starting at one of the valleys holiday cottages, it's a pleasant walk along a good (but wet) track initially, then following the banks of a rushing mountain stream. A steep uphill pull then brings you across an unspoilt heathery plateau to the high point. Great views over to the nearby main Maamturks. The unspoilt nature of this summit means there are no tracks through the heather on the last several hundred metres of the walk across the top. The starting point is in the Glenlosh Valley and it is advised to seek permission from the landowners who live at the end of the valley.

Note: ALL information such as Ascent, Length and Creator time taken etc should be regarded as approximate. The creator's comments are opinions and may not be accurate or still correct.
Your time to complete will depend on your speed plus break time and your mode of transport. For walkers: Naismith's rule, a rough and often inaccurate estimate, suggests a time of 2h 1m + time stopped for breaks
Note: It is up to you to ensure that your route is appropriate for you and your party to follow bearing in mind all factors such as safety, weather conditions, experience and access permission.
