It would be pure folly not to visit..
by Fergalh  18 Sep 2023
Due to an inclement weather forecast for the Wales area .We decided to visit Hawkstone Park follies Park near the eastern Welsh border just north of Shrewsbury which contained a binnion. The 8 km walk over small hills, caves, follies and numerous ups and down contained many curiousities and was a lot more challenging than expected. The high point is topped with a statue on a monument erected in 1795 to Sir Rowland Hill the first protestant Lord Mayor of London. There are 160 steps inside which leads to a viewing platform with extensive views of the surrounding largely flat area. It should be noted there is an entrance fee of STG 11. However the follies and caves make for an interesting good few hours and reasonable value. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/B5360/comment/24032/
